NAIROBI, KENYA – Somapa Information Technology PLC, a leader in digital border management, has successfully demonstrated its technical prowess in the Republic of Kenya as part of a high-level trade mission led by Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP). The mission marks a significant milestone for Thai software and technology providers entering the "Silicon Savannah," the burgeoning digital heart of East Africa.

The trade mission, comprising 14 leading Thai technology firms, facilitated intensive business matching sessions with over 73 Kenyan enterprises. These engagements resulted in an estimated trade value exceeding 165 million THB, underscoring the massive demand for digital infrastructure and administrative solutions in the region.
Kenya: The Gateway to a Digital Continent Ms. Sunanta Kangvalkulkij, Director-General of the DITP, highlighted that Africa is no longer a "distant or difficult" market but a rapidly evolving "New Frontier." With the world’s second-largest population and a surging middle class, Kenya serves as a strategic logistics and ICT hub for East Africa.
"Africa’s rapid digital awakening presents a golden opportunity for Thai entrepreneurs," stated Ms. Kangvalkulkij. "Kenya’s proactive ICT development policies are exactly why we have prioritized this market for our tech sector."

Mr. Subhaprasert Wongsuwan, CEO of Somapa Information Technology PLC, emphasized the necessity of robust IT systems for managing resources and trade in a continent of 1.4 billion people. He credited the DITP’s involvement for providing the necessary credibility to navigate the new market.
"Business matching conducted through embassies and commercial attachés has helped ease concerns over trust and security," said Mr. Wongsuwan. "Government vetting ensures we are connecting with legitimate, high-quality partners."
Next Stop: GITEX Africa 2026 Following the success in Nairobi, the delegation has moved to Morocco to participate in GITEX Africa 2026, the continent’s largest technology exhibition. The DITP will officially inaugurate the Thailand Pavilion on April 7, 2026, showcasing Thai innovation to a global audience and further expanding Thailand’s footprint across the African continent.
